FANCY TRAPS

Beginning in late October, early November I started thinking about the sheer craziness of how scheduled our lives can be, and how we are constantly moving from one spinning plate to another. The tangle web of all these simultaneous commitments is invisible, but what if it physically grew and grew more complex? What if our obligations clung to us, blocked us, punctured us? Ta da! FANCY TRAPS was born.
I'm going to be debuting FANCY TRAPS at the Grad Gallery at the Ontario College of Art & Design University. Come celebrate, gander and add to the series! I've been thinking a lot about issues of community and accessibility as it pertains to the making of art. This body of work very much corresponds to the relationships and connections that I maintain with my colleagues and community on a daily basis, so I'd love to make a collaborative piece with those who attend the show. I will be giving a mini-workshop on the night of the reception for the first two hours, and an intensive drop-in workshop in the gallery on the following afternoon. Demos and techniques include: use of dry mount in collage, making your own stencils, using ink and watercolor for stenciling and linocut stamping.
The work will be for sale, but prices will not be listed. If interested, please inquire at the event or by e-mail.
